Because, when the sun shines, we shine together Told you I'd be here foreverSaid I'll always be your friend Took an oath, I'ma stick it out till the end <3Charlotte took a sip of her butterbeer and leaned back in her seat with a gentle sigh. Her pale blue eyes scanned her defense against the dark arts textbook for another moment before she raised her gaze to scribble down a few notes. Most people, looking on, would say that the poor girl looked tired and probably needed a break, but Charlotte would always say otherwise. She needed to stay preoccupied. If she didn't, she knew she'd be overwhelmed with distracting thoughts, and she didn't want that. Besides, she wouldn't be alone long. The main reason she was there was to meet up with Sam.
Samantha Brooks was Charlotte's very best friend. They had been close since their very first year, and they had always been able to confide in each other with absolutely everything. Char was just thankful that her friend even put up with her sometimes—as controlling as she could be. Now that Drew was gone—she swallowed her drink painfully at the thought—Charlotte depended on Sam more than she ever did. Though she would never say it out loud, Charlotte found a great deal of warmth and comfort in her best mate's presence. Sam knew that, she was sure. So when they made plans to meet up at the Three Broomsticks, Charlotte was absolutely ecstatic. She needed a break from all the work, after all.
Sammy never failed to make her laugh or smile, and she could only hope that her dear best friend arrived soon. Taking another sip of butterbeer, Charlotte smiled at the sweet taste in her mouth and packaged away her finished homework. Just as she did, she heard the door of the old pub creek open. She glanced up, a smile already plastered onto her face, and looked around for any sign of Sam.

i need a n o t h e r story something to get off my c h e s t • • • • •
Samantha was pretty excited today. She had long awaited the weekend to come. And surprisingly enough, it wasn’t to spend secret time with Teddy. Which she hated it having to be a secret. She had made sure all her homework was completed the night before after supper, so she could concentrate all her time on her best friend, Miss Charlotte Finnigan. The two were the closest anyone could be. Being friends since first year could do that to some. Most people always separated from older friends as they reached the last few years of school, but Sam and Charlotte were not like them at all. The years had just made their friendship stronger.
After visiting the Hospital wing for her usual meal, Samantha had ran excitedly back to the Ravenclaw common room to shower and change. She wasn’t about to leave the school gross smelling and in her pj’s. She was surprised to find the dorm empty. Usually the other girls were always in there for extra time, primping themselves for the boys around the school. She was glad she didn’t have to worry about that anymore. Rats-nest in her hair and sweats, and Teddy thought she was the prettiest thing ever. She smiled to herself and grabbed her towel before heading into the bathroom for her shower.
She was out in a matter of minutes and back in the dormroom pulling out her outfit. A pair of form fitting jeans with some holes and bleach stains along the legs, and a white button down. She slipped on her bra and undies before sliding on her pants and some socks with black sneakers. She put the shirt on and, not bothering to button it at all, tied the ends of the shirt above her belly button. She walked over to her mirror and looked the outfit over. She was just planning on using a warming spell on herself, so she wouldn’t have to bother with a cloak. Besides, it wasn’t terribly cold yet. She waved her wand around her head, drying and straightening her hair. Once she was content with her look, she grabbed her purse and skipped down the stairs to the common room and out to the hall.
Both the girls had been a bit busy with their school work, so they hadn’t been able to spend too much time together. Kinda silly actually. They were in the same year, and in almost all the same classes, and yet never got to see each other. But that was ravens for you. Noses in books and nothing more. As she reached the outside, she waved her wand around herself again, placing the warming spell over herself and made her way to Hogsmeade. Meeting at the Three Broomsticks was definitely a good idea. Sam could use a drink.
It wasn’t much longer until she was on the cobblestone road in the village. She was glad that some place a little entertain was so close to the school. She headed over to Three Broomsticks and made her way in. She went straight over to the bar and smiled at the bartender as she ordered a firewhiskey. He nodded and turned to get her the drink. As he did, Sam turned on the stop and looked around to find her friend. It didn’t take long. It wasn’t a Hogsmeade weekend, so not many students were occupying the pub. So she saw her friend sitting at their usual table. She turned back just as the bartender set down her mug. Sam left him some money and headed over to the table. “Hello, my dear Lotte,” she said, sitting next to her friend. “Miss me?” She smiled and took a drink from her mug.

Charlotte's pale blue eyes eventually fell onto Sam, and a great, sincere smile crossed her lips. She waited for the girl to meet her gaze, excited that they were finally going to get to spend some time together. Professors, when they assigned homework, sort of didn't care if you had a best friend or not, and being head girl only made things much more hectic for the Finnigan girl. Much worse, she was forced to put up with Jacov—her egocentric ex-boyfriend and inconsiderate roommate. He felt mutually, of course, but that didn't help her current situation. Personally, it only made her want to leave Hogwarts quicker, and that was saying an awful lot.
She pushed those thoughts to the back of her mind as her dear best friend came to sit beside her, firewhiskey in hand. "Of course I missed you, Sammy," she responded, taking a sip of her drink and crossing one leg over the other. "Who on earth was I supposed to vent with you not around? Jacov? Hell no!" she joked, winking at Sam before shaking her head. The girl knew all about her troubles with the boy yes, but she also knew of all Charlotte's issues. She knew everything, because Charlotte knew she could always trust Sam with her life. She knew (or at least hoped) that Sammy knew she could trust her as well. After everything they had gone through, Charlotte was sure their bond was unbreakable.
"Enough about me," she said, putting a hand on her cheek and smiling at Sam. "What about you? You missed me, right? What have you been up to?" Charlotte had to stop herself from bombarding her best friend with questions. She paused for a moment before asking in a quieter voice, "And what about your… teddy bear?" She leaned back, giving her friend a teasing look. Charlotte really didn't intend of teasing Sam too much, though, because Teddy's younger godbrother, James, happened to be Charlotte's very innocent crush. Though the two of them were friends, it rather disgusted her that she had acquired such feelings towards him of all people—especially when she had to keep reminding him to stop breaking the god-damned rules!
All feelings aside, she stirred her drink and waited curiously for Sam to respond.

Samantha laughed to herself when she heard Charlotte’s thoughts on Jacov. She knew her friend hated the boy. They had dated and even Sam could see that it wasn’t going over well. He had become friends with Longbottom’s daughter and had spent more time with her over Lotte. Sam, of course, knew that he wasn’t doing anything with the Hufflepuff, but no matter what Jacov told Lotte, she didn’t believe him and broke up with him. Sam did feel a little bad for the boy, but Lotte was her friend, not the boy. So she kept her nose out of their business.
She smiled when her friend told her she missed her. She was glad. They hadn’t seen each other in so long, Sam was afraid the Lotte would forget her, (not seriously, of course). She laughed. “Oh I’m sure you can vent to Jacov. You just wouldn’t get intelligent responses.” He was a good listener. She was always around the two when they were together, and he usually did sit and listen to Charlotte. He just never really knew what to say to her. And that was always when Sam piped up and spoke for Jacov. That way Lotte wasn’t talking to herself.
“Of course I missed you!” she said, laughing. “What makes you think that I wouldn’t?” She knew Lotte would know she missed her. As much as she loved Teddy, she had to see Charlotte every now and then. She needed her girl time. “I haven’t been up to much really,” she said with a shrug. “Breaking the rules, having a taboo relationship. You know…the usual,” she smiled. Charlotte was the only one that knew about Sam’s relationship with Teddy. She couldn’t trust anyone else with that secret. Even if they started dating before he was a teacher, no one would see past the fact she’s dating a teacher. Some people were just so stupid. When Charlotte mentioned Teddy, Sam took a sip of her firewhiskey. “I finally told him about me being a…you know.” She hated saying it out loud. Even as far as the wizarding world had come, she still didn’t want people to know that she was a vampire.
