My mother dubbed me Basil Bartholomew Brightwell, though not many are exactly in-the-know about my second name. Some are occasionally flabbergasted by my alliterated birth name, and I'll admit, it can come across as a bit..overindulged. Ahem, as such, I prefer Basil above all others, though clearly Professor Brightwell will suffice where students are concerned.
My date of birth is March twelfth, nineteen-eighty-six, which makes me twenty-five years-old. My occupation at present is the Charms Professor, and have been as such for nearly two years.
I attended this school as a child, which came as no surprise really as the rest of my family has as well, and was sorted into Ravenclaw. I am a pureblood, though my blood status isn't of particular concern to me. I've met plenty of muggleborns that possess extraordinarily magical capabilities, and have even been bested myself by several during harmless duels.
My wand is nine and a quarter inches, willow, with a fairy wing core.

..Who? Err, I'm not familiar with that name. I'd like to think I look very much my own person, thank you. I stand at an even 5'10 with what many deem necessary to call a "lanky form". I weigh approximately 160 lbs the last I checked, though that wasn't exactly a recent discovery. My eyes are a deep brown that I've been told flows nicely with my brunette hair.
I'm not entirely certain how to describe my appearance, but if you insist, I'll attempt. Typically I'm inclined towards pinstriped robes and suits. Colours mean very little to me, and I suppose it's not uncommon for me to don somewhat..flashy clothing here and there. I do enjoy mixing it up every so often.
Piercings? I should think not. Bloody things just snag on everything. As for tattoos, I'm not entirely opposed to them, however there just not for me.

Likes
- Charmwork :: Obviously, this has always been the subject I've felt most at home with. As such, I've spent many years building up my talents and skills where Charms are involved.
- Reading :: One of the finer pleasures in life, in my opinion. Reading opens the door to the imagination, and despite my more-than-logical approach to most things, that is an asset I'd like to continue to possess.
- Classical music :: Some, particularly the younger generations, find it highly amusing to ridicule the apparent "boring" and "melodramatic" music that is an orchestra. I disagree. I find it infinitely relaxing and simply delightful to play whilst working.
- Practical debates :: I truly enjoy butting heads with others on political, moral, and even rudimentary subjects. So long as there's no real anger or bitterness behind the act, I see no reason why students shouldn't practice this skill as well. I often encourage it.
- Awarding House Points :: It really is a pleasure to give hardworking and intelligent children with an award for their good deeds.
- Pumpkin Pasties :: Now I don't have much of a sweet tooth, however, having a mother that simply thrived off baking sweets, these are a particular weakness of mine.
- Teaching :: This is one of my true callings in life, I think. Bestowing my knowledge onto impressionable young minds is a very large responsibility, but I take it with pride. Naturally there are those days I simply don't want to handle a room full of immaturity, but by the end of the day I'm reminded this is what I love doing.
- Dueling :: Most wouldn't expect it of me, but I quite enjoy testing out my abilities as a wizard. It's not every day I'm permitted to practice defensive and/or offensive magic, as my subject of choosing revolves mainly around practical spells, but when I'm given an opponent, I find my face lighting up and my heart soaring.
- Nature :: Though this isn't something I'm all that knowledgeable about, I have a certain yearning to immerse myself in nature once in awhile. That is, to spend days on end (days I'm not working of course) outside. During these occasions, I try to refrain from using magic at all so I may fully appreciate just how fortunate I am.
- Intelligent conversation ::Surprisingly, it's not that often I'm invited to a conversation centered around matters of deep thought and consideration. There is, however, the odd student that wishes to indulge me and, more often than not, I'm simply delighted.
Dislikes
- Children :: While I don't dislike them as a whole, I've been told my first reaction to most who haven't yet reached the cusp of adulthood is moderate displeasure and disinterest. I have several model students that I simply adore, and let it never be said I'm unnecessarily cruel to any child, however I prefer to spend my time with fellow adults.
- Women :: Similar to children, it's not collectively I dislike them. However, they pose to be a significant distraction. There are those pestering types that simply can't or refuse to see my uninterested demeanour while they flaunt their..ahem, assets quite provocatively.
- Illiterates :: Astonishingly, I have met individuals with no inkling how to read. Simply said, I couldn't leave the poor souls without help; what kind of teacher would I be? If one doesn't know how to read, I feel very sorry for them and urge them to learn.
- An invasion of personal space :: This..is something I've struggled with my whole life. There has always only been a very select few that I allow to personally touch me. I was never abused, Merlin forbid, and yet I just prefer to remain on a professional level with my colleagues and friends.
- Inappropriate dress on students :: Call me old-fashioned, but I simply won't tolerate underage girls falling out the tops of their jumpers.
- Dealing punishments :: I really hate doing this. I've never really seen punishments as a means to teach anyone anything, but, as is the rules, I'm obliged to deal out detentions occasionally.
- Divination :: It may be rude of me to say so, but I've never considered this a worthwhile subject. The true seer here and there is an admirable person to be sure, but I've no interest in things as frivolous as prophecies and vague dreams.
- Textbooks :: My favourite method of teaching is the practical kind. Plus, in my experience anyway, students are wont for hands-on lessons.
- Dairy :: Ugh, the thought sends my stomach turning.
- Religion :: Despite being raised by wizards, I have indulged in a desire to learn more about muggles and their beliefs. As such, this topic was of particular interest to me and I've personally astounded at the absurdity of it all.

at least five of each. balance them out, please. no one is a complete failure, but no one is perfect either. it would be helpful if you bolded the actual items themselves, then put the rest in regular face type. explain each item.

talk about three quirks/habits, their worst fear, best kept secret, their three favorite smells their relationship status and sexuality. in two seperate paragraphs, talk about their patronus, both the memory and the form it takes- but only if they are a sixth year and up, as well as their boggart, their worst memory. take time to describe them all fully.

Now I'm a man that can fully admit my shortcomings. At twenty-five years-of-age I'd like to think I've encountered enough heated conversations with others while they spouted each things they dislike about my attitude. As a rule, it's not exactly..easy for me to be overtly compassionate. Oh surely I can sympathize with someone, and I'm usually willing to lend an ear, but I'm not that interested in reciprocating. Because of this, I've been told I'm aloof and maybe just a bit pompous. Hmph.
Another thing I've beenshouted attold is my err.."tantrums". While I wouldn't use that word, I can see why someone else would. During times of trouble, particularly when I'm emotionally compromised, I'm much more prone to snapping at others for very little reasons. I don't derive any pleasure from confiding in just anyone, and more often than not the wrong person will only irritate me more. I'm not the sort of person that benefits from company when unhappy, really, and unfortunately a great deal of people strive to enhance my mood.
I wouldn't refer to it as an anger problem, though again, I could see why others would.
On a more positive note, however, is my easily excitable tendencies. Some would claim I give House Points out too readily, but, as stated, I simply become overjoyed when a student proves their intelligence. Judging from the feedback I've received from several students, I'm a rather fun teacher, which I would be lying if I said didn't just tickle me pink. Upon reflecting, I suppose a common occurrence in my classroom is my excited and thrilled shouting, sometimes to get my class's attention, other times just because of a sudden burst of inspiration.

three full paragraphs. it's only fair. start with their childhood, but focus on the character, not their parents. highlight their years in school, and if they're an adult, talk about what happened after graduation.
