hello, there! i go by the name of roban crevan finnigan (that's pronnounced roh-ban), although sometimes people call me robin because my name kinda sounds like the bird, fin or finny, and of course there's always pyroman and other fire/explosion related names due to my talent for accidently making things blow up. basically, yell a name involving explosions and/or fire across the great hall and i'll respond. i'm sixteen years old and will turn seventeen on the fifteenth of march. this makes me a sixth-year at hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry, where i am in gryffindor house like my parents. i'm considered muggle-born, but does that really matter? my wand is eleven inches, maple, and dragon heartstring, and i love it! i don't have a broom, and i'm not too bad at flying and i like quidditch, but i wouldn't really trust myself to play a sport, let alone one fifty foot off the ground.

i look like who? riker lynch... wasn't he that guy? i don't really know... i have brown hair and brown eyes, but i bleach my hair blonde because i feel that suits me better. i'm six foot tall, and weigh nine stone and have a body type that makes me not look awkward at all being so tall; i don't hunch over and i'm not incredibly thin (or fat), i have a slight amount of tone to my muscles. nothing too impressive, actually, i keep saying i should work out more to build them up but i never get round to it. as for features that make me stand out, i don't have any piercings or tattoos and i don't plan on getting any. i usually have some form of burn visable on my hands and arms, only a couple of scars from more severe burns. i try and keep up with fashion, but mostly it's just jeans or shorts and a t-shirt, whatever's comfortable. if it's sunny, i have a few brightly coloured sunglasses. they're not really that fashionable, but i like them all the same.

well, one of the first things anyone in my class will notice is that i seem to attract explosions. at first, i hated how every so often a spell would result in a burst of flames, but now i've learned to control when i blow stuff up, and really enjoy it. i like ireland, where i live, and all the countryside there because it's away from muggles so you can do magic without worry. i really like acting, too, it's like a chance to escape real life and all that. i also like singing, as it's a great way to express myself. when i have the chance, i love to explore new places, although i've only once or twice snuck out after dark. any practical lessons are the ones i prefer; things like defence against the dark arts and charms. food is good, too; it's tasty and keeps you alive, what's not to like? jokes and humour are great, too, i love messing around with friends, cracking jokes and making sarcastic comments when appropriate.
everyone has something they don't like. for me, my main dislike is written work. if it were something with feeling like a poem or a song, sure, but essays? bleh. no thanks. i can't stand potions lessons, either, since i've never quite managed to get the hang of not making half my potions blow up. being cooped up in one place annoys me, possibly why i'm not afraid to break the rules. just little things, though, i'm not stupid enough to try something that'd get me into serious trouble. exams are horrible, i don't know how i managed to pass my owls... i'm not a big fan of prejudice and bullying and i can't stand it when people make fun of my irish accent. like anyone, i'm not too keen on homework, but i'll do it anyway because i hate not achieving my goals.

i'm very, very good at pyrotechnics and anything to do with fire and explosions, although some people don't see that as a good thing. i like using that skill for jokes and pranks; people often tell me i have a great sense of humour. my best subjects are without a doubt charms and defence against the dark arts, since i'm good at casting spells and sometimes blowing stuff up or setting fire to things is considered helpful in those lessons. in general, i'm better at stuff like acting and singing than i am more academic stuff.
i'm dreadful in potions lessons, as half the time i seem to end up with a cauldron full of flames. as you could expect, this also makes me a terrible cook, unless you like your food burned to a crisp. i'm bad with written work, probably mostly due to my really short attention span. i find it hard to keep focused in lessons, which is probably why i like to joke around so much. the teachers don't seem to like it too much, but i'm just not really an academic person. i can cast spells, ride brooms, and act and sing fine, but when it comes to theory work and stuff like that, my brain struggles. i wouldn't call myself stupid, but i'm not really smart, either. i guess i'd be considered average, good spell casting balancing out poor written and theory work. i'm not the best as staying out of trouble, as i never do anything too serious but my dad says i remind him a little of a slightly less troublesome fred and george (the leading troublemakers at his time at school), and i lose just almost as many house points as i earn.

the most obvious habit of mine is blowing stuff up, but i also tend to chew my lip when thinking and i run a hand through my hair when i'm feeling anxious about something. i don't get scared by much, but when i do, i get absolutely terrified. my worst fear is of anything dead, or where dead things have been - send me into a graveyard and i will run straight out unless there's a good reason to stay. i don't keep many secrets, but i guess my best kept one would be of my mum's condition. after being attacked by fenrir greyback, she nearly died and her injuries still cause her pain sometimes, plus the near-death encounter with one of the most evil werewolves around traumatised her a great deal. she has good days and bad days. sometimes she's normal, other days she can become paranoid and we have to keep reminding her that she can trust us, it's awful.
i love the smell of candles, baking biscuits and brownies, and woods and forests. i'm straight and currently single. i've had a couple of girlfriends in the past and i'll only go out with someone i know i love.
my patronus takes the form of a leopard, which i think is quite cool. there are two memories i use mostly to create it; my first time in diagon alley when my older sister was starting school and we went the entire day with no arguements and not even the slightest hint of my mum's problem. my other memory is of my first saturday at hogwarts, when the best friends i've ever made and i went down to the forbidden forest and i managed to drive off a medium-sized acromantula with a shower of exploding sparks from my wand; the first time my skill with pyrotechnics was useful.
my boggart takes the form of a fire extinguisher. well, actually that's what i tell people as a joke. it actually takes the form of my mother as a living rotting corpse holding my dad's severed head and asking who i am, which combined my fear of dead things, something bad happening to my family and my worst memory, which is a point when i was about nine and my mother took a turn for the worst, forgetting who i was and thinking i was going to attack her. i feared she wouldn't recover from that downturn, but she just about managed to after being in st mungo's longer than she ever has been.

WHAT ABOUT YOUR OVERALL PERSONALITY?
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
well, a lot of people say i'm 'adorable'. i think this is kinda weird, and i don't know why they think that, but they do. i've asked and apparently it's just the way i act and treat people, although i feel my irish accent is to blame for some of it. a lot of people like my accent. a lot of people think it's funny and stupid. i guess enough different people have called me cute and adorable over the years for me to figure it must true or something.
i'm pretty weird and fun, quite spontanious and random. some people think i'm too strange and avoid me, but others seem to like the my energy and imagination. i come up with a load of cool idea which i think would be fun to try out, most of which i never get round to carry about but i find it fun to just imagine senarios sometimes. i suppose i can be a bit naive about things sometimes, or just not really know completely what's going on. i usually keep a smile on my face, seeming to be a generally happy and lively person. while some people think i'm weird, most people witnessing a joke or prank of mine and my friends' feel respect towards us. i don't crave attention or anything, i just like a good laugh, and to see other people laugh.
i think some of my craving for comedy comes from wanting to laugh and be happy rather than be depressed about my mum's condition. she can be quite unstable and it really upsets me whenever my dad sends an owl to ask me to send her love and a gift to help her get better. no-one knows about how much her condition upsets me, and i've heard about what happened to poor professor longbottom's parents (neville was a good schoolfriend of dad's) and i get terrified sometimes that the same will happen to my mum. i don't tell people partly because i don't want to make a fuss, partly because i don't really want them thinking she's not a good mum, because she's a great mum, she just has her... moments.
as a gryffindor, i could say i'm quite brave. if i feel fear, i'll try and bear with it and carry on with the task at hand if required, and i'm not afraid to be bold and try out new things (even if it does need a slight bend in the rules). i'll do anything for my friends, and trust them all completely. making friends is really easy, but trusting them completely takes a little longer.

my dad, seamus finnigan, and i get along really well. we both share a love of pranks, jokes and humour, my dad being as talented with pyrotechnics, too. in fact, that's something i'm really proud of him for; he used his talent to help us win the battle of hogwarts, he and neville longbottom blowing up the covered bridge while hundreds of death eaters were crossing, killed loads and preventing the rest from reaching hogwarts. i'm proud, too, that he stayed on in his seventh year when hogwarts went bad and carried on the da, rebelling against the death eater staff and eventually leaving for the room of requirement.
my mum, lavender brown, is someone else i'm really proud of. she, like my dad, was one of the da and stayed in the room of requirement, bravely fighting death eaters and even taking on the vicious fenrir greyback, doing some damage to him before he knocked her unconcious and left the mental scarring he did. i suspect it was something to do with the werewolf genes in the bites and scratches, even though he was in human form. i think that was what might have made her mind mess every now and then. half the time she's fine and normal with the odd strange remark or complain of her physical injuries. she'll go into st mungo's about one every other year. she's got worse from before my younger sister was born, but i hope she won't continue to get worse.
i have three siblings; an older sister, ---, who's a seventh-year ravenclaw, a twin brother, ---, who's in slytherin, and a younger sister, ---, who's a fourth-year hufflepuff. it's odd to have four siblings from a gryffindor family who are all in different houses, but there you go. i love them all, too, and i suppose this helps me have nothing against any other house.

i grew up in northern ireland, where i spent a lot of my children searching for magical creatures in the forest or having my dad teach me to ride a broom around the fields. we live near a muggle village but we're over a hill so out of sight, but we can get there easily. my parents didn't mind me and my siblings from mixing with the muggle children, and they'd told us not to show anyone any magic, plus if any of the muggle kids told the adults, the adults would have just thought they were making things up like kids did. some of the muggles didn't like our family, thought we were weird, but we didn't mind. we know some wizarding families nearby and they're always good to meet up with.
when my older sister joined hogwarts, we expected her to be a gryffindor, so when she was put in ravenclaw, it was a bit of a surprise. i joined the following year with my twin, who surprised the family even more by being made slytherin. at first being in opposite houses created some tension between us, but we got over that. when my younger joined and was made hufflepuff, it was kind of cool because now there was a sibling in each house, which sort of brought us together in a weird way, although i don't see them so often because of that.
i went through school with a surprisingly little amount of detentions; i suppose it was a mixture of luck, then, later, experience in not getting caught. at the end of my fourth, my mum took a really bad turn and spent three weeks of my summer holidays in st mungo's barely recognising me. that left me depressed for the start of my owl, but i cheered up gradually and got ten owls. no idea how i managed, and dada and charms were even outstandings, which was a pleasant surprise for the whole family and gave me hope for my future. i hadn't been too confident about my future career until then and throughout my fifth year i was pretty down, so the results perked and seeing my mum in a good state perked me up a lot for my sixth year. i want to do something other than a desk job, perhaps a comedian or actor or musician. i think i'm more likely to try for something in the arts than anything else.
