Hello, I’m Marley King Shacklebolt, but you can call me Marley. Or Shacklebolt. Don’t be lazy and call me Marls like my family does and don’t try to be clever and call me Bob Marley like my friends because I do know who he is now! I’m sixteen; I was born on July 23rd, the start of the Leo horoscope, so I suppose I was destined to be a lion. I’m in Gryffindor at Hogwarts, you see. Both my parents were halfbloods and while two halves make a whole, I’m still considered a halfblood witch. I think it is funny how blood status works in our world, but it doesn’t matter to me. My wand is 12 inches, maple with a phoenix feather.

Drew Sidora? I’ve never really noticed. Just because I have dark skin and long black hair doesn’t mean I look like every coloured actress you know. I think I’m taller than Drew anyway, she looks so tiny! I’m very tall and lithe, just under six feet. I tower over all the girls at Hogwarts. My Mum always says six feet tall is better than six feet under, but some days I beg to differ. I’m very clean cut too – I only have my ear lopes pierced once, and no tattoos or anything like that.

The whole girly-and-dainty thing doesn’t work so well for me. Most of my robes have to be custom made because I’m so tall! I like to wear cargo pants and a plain shirt; I think I look very outdoorsy. You know, ready to dash out and tame a dragon at a moment’s notice. Not that that ever happens at Hogwarts. When my mum gets a hold of me, she’ll give me the ‘look’ and I’ll put on knee length skirts and frilly shirts and cardigans. And I’ll hate every minute of it.
