With the argument over, they could finally move onto normal conversation. He never usually like giving up during arguments, but when he knew it was a lost cause, then he didn’t bother with them. He looked at her and raised his eyebrow. “Do you? Well, then I guess I may have to try being nicer to you from now on,” he said, with a grin. “But I will be teasing you in public to keep up appearances. Only until people can remotely get used to us, of all people, are around each other.” He didn’t really think anyone would get used to that fact, but it was a nice thought. If anyone shouldn’t be getting used to it, it should be them.
His eyebrow rose slightly. “I don’t think that seems very nice,” he said, simply. “If my kid crashed into a thorn bush, I’d let them fly again only if they wanted to. But maybe that’s just me.” He wouldn’t talk his child into getting back into flying. If they came to him saying they wanted to try again, then they’d give it another go. He smiled slightly. “I thought the same thing, but my father had a few screw-ups in his time, so I know they wouldn’t.” His father definitely had his moments in school. Scorpius dreaded the times Grandfather Lucius would come to visit, because all he did was complain about Draco. “I’m pretty sure a window is worse than a bush,” he laughed.
“I was trying to pay attention. My cousins were distracting me,” he said, furrowing his brows. He had been flying around so good and then the two youngest of the Yaxleys were yelling up at him and bothering him. They broke his concentration and he hit the window. He could tell that she was laughing at him for his stupidity, and he couldn’t blame her. He laughed at her, so she had to return it. “Trust me, if you saw it happen, you wouldn’t be laughing, Lily,” he said with a chuckle. When she said that she wouldn’t say anything, he smiled an honest genuine smile. “Thanks.” He was happy that she wouldn’t spread that around. He didn’t need others to hear it. It was a horrible thing that happened, no one needed to know.
His grin grew. “Don’t worry about it.” He could tell she was wondering about it, but he wasn’t going to tell her. This new found feeling for the red-head in front of him was going to spill the beans. He still wasn’t used to it, let alone blabbing it to her. She’d probably just laugh at him at the mention of it. “I’m sure it would be funny, but you don’t need to cause a distraction to win. At least with a new broom, you’ll make it fun. I won’t mind having my hands full.” He laughed. “You know I could win, even if you were on a Nimbus 2000.” He had heard about how good they were supposed to be, but they were so old. He doubted that Lily could beat him while riding one.
“I guess I may have to get used to it. But Lily isn’t as fun as Potter is, but I don’t want to confuse you with your brothers. That would just suck. At least you only have to worry about one Malfoy,” he teased. He was glad he was an only child. He got all the attention he wanted. He liked being the center of attention, but not like his father. His father was horrible like that. He knew that his father would blow a gasket if he found out about him hanging out with Lily. Part of him cared about it, but at the same time…he didn’t care. He wanted to be friends with who he wanted. But he knew at some point, he’d have to tell them. His parents had a horrible habit of showing up at the school some times. For no reason at all.
“Well, you wouldn’t have to sleep on it, sleep in your bed, but for everything else, just fly around. Hell, I’d do it. Who cares about the professors and the headmaster?” He laughed. “Well hopefully you won’t be clumsy all your life.” As he mounted his broom, he smiled at Lily. His eyebrow rose and he smirked at her. “Bite me back? I might like it.” He didn’t intentionally mean to flirt with her, but it happened. He couldn’t take it back. When she climbed on the broom behind him, he felt a small blush come to his face. He was glad that Lily was behind him. She wouldn’t be able to see it. “You good and ready?” he asked, glancing back at her. He kicked off the ground and soared into the sky. They were only going to the other side of London, but the best broom shop was there.

we're venus and mars.--we're like different stars. “Yes, you should. It’s much more pleasant,” she grinned. It was almost amusing how quickly they had gone from being rivals to acting like friends. They were already smiling and laughing when, just a few minutes ago, she had wanted nothing to do with him. It was bizarre. It was messed up. It wasn’t how things were supposed to be. And yet, Lily loved it. He was showing her a side of him that he obviously didn’t reveal too often, and it was almost sweet. This was enough to make her smile. “Then I suppose that I’ll have to help keep the act up as well. I apologize in advance for all of the creative and brilliant insults I embarrass you with,” she spoke with a cheeky smirk, “but I don’t think we should tell my brothers or let them see us together. Ever. They would explode if they knew we were getting along.” She hesitated to say ‘friends’. That was what they seemed to be, but she wasn’t sure if he thought they were to that level yet.
Lily shrugged. “He knew that I really wanted to. I just needed a little push and some support.” Sometimes, it seemed like her father knew her better than she knew herself. It was annoying at times, but it made it easy for her to ask for advice from him. He always knew what to do. “You’re in luck. I happen to prefer hanging out with flawed people rather than perfect people. I’m relieved that the entire ‘Malfoys are perfect’ thing is a myth,” she joked, but this did come as a relief to her. Few things annoyed her more that people who thought that they could do no wrong. If he had that kind of personality, their newfound peace wouldn’t last long. “Obviously, you’ve never landed in a thorn bush,” she chuckled. He was probably right, but it was difficult for Lily to imagine something more painful than landing in a prickly plant and then having to have some of the sharp little devils removed from skin.
“Now now, Mr. Malfoy! A good flyer knows how to ignore distractions and focus on his or her flying!” she criticized playfully. She smirked, but there was nothing hard or cruel to her expression. The girl wasn’t trying to hurt or truly insult Scorpius. She wouldn’t do that to him, especially now. It would also be hypocritical of her to say something like that and be serious about it. Many times, she had nearly crashed because she wasn’t paying attention. She was a skilled flyer, but it was hard for her to focus during practices. During a game she could force herself to buckle down and dedicate herself to finding the snitch. Practices, however, failed to give her much motivation. It drove the team crazy, but at least she could pull herself together when it was really important. “I’m sure I wouldn’t be laughing. I have a weird sense of humor, but I’m not sadistic. It’s only amusing because you’re okay now.” If he had been permanently injured, nothing about it would have been funny. “No problem…but if I ever need good blackmail material…” she faked an evil grin, then shook her head. “Just kidding. I wouldn’t do that.”
She tilted her head slightly and breathed a little laugh. “No, now I’m curious. Tell me!” she demanded with a grin. It was practically impossible for her to just ignore something like this. Something must have amused him…she was really wanting to know what exactly it was. Had she said something funny by accident? “Mkay. We’ll see how you feel after Gryffindor sends you guys sulking back to the dungeons!” Of all the things Lily might have lacked, confidence wasn’t one of them. She was definitely acting cocky, but the redhead was convinced that her team was going to win. They were better than ever and ready to go. It seemed like they just couldn’t lose.
“You will…I have faith in you. Having two other Potters around does get confusing. If we’re together and someone yells ‘Potter’, we all turn around to see who’s calling our name. Calling me Lily will just make everything easier,” she explained with a steady smile. It was a pain when people tried to call all three of the siblings ‘Potter’, but this was just an excuse. Her primary concern was Scorpius calling her Lily instead of just Potter because it seemed less bitter. It shouldn’t have mattered. She didn’t even know why exactly it bothered her so much. That pesky little crush probably had something to do with it.
This wasn’t exactly a normal conversation, but she liked it. He was easy to joke around with. “But I would have to land and take at least a step to get from the ground to my bed. One step is all it takes for me to injure myself!” she pointed out. “I like the way you think. Besides, it would be for my well-being…if they didn’t let me do, I could claim that they don’t care about my safety!” Lily laughed and shrugged a little. “I’m not sure if I’ll grow out of it, but I wouldn’t mind that.” Being on the broom with Scorpius was very new for her. They were so close together and it wasn’t something she was used to, yet it only took moments for her to relax and lose the awkward feeling that had sprung up. “Oh, so you’re into that kind of stuff. Kinky,” she teased. The words slipped right out of her mouth, but they sounded so casual. “Yup, I’m good to go,” she responded, tightening her arms very lightly as he kicked off. She was off to London so Scorpius Malfoy could buy her a new broom; could this day get any more surprising? lyrics; wouldn’t change a thing – demi lovato & joe jonas status; done! tag; scorpikins! word count; nine hundred seventy-two notes; LOVETHEM. <3

Scorpius was glad to have Lily on the back of his broom. He had watched her from afar before and always thought she was a good Quidditch player. Of course, he thought she was good looking as well and that was mostly the reason why he couldn’t keep his eyes off her. But he always did. He couldn’t let others notice him looking at her. When she mentioned them keeping all this a secret, he couldn’t help but agree. They weren’t even completely comfortable with it, never mind the entire school liking it. Besides, he didn’t need her brothers to find out about it. It would just cause more drama than he really needed. It was bad enough that he hadn’t told his parents of his new…“friend” but he didn’t plan on it. Not yet at least. No one needed to know.
He smirked at her comments after he said he’d like it if she bit him. Hey, he couldn’t help it that it was a bit of a turn on. He wasn’t a huge player like his father and grandfather, but he had had a couple flings before. He knew what he liked and didn’t like. But that was for another day. After he made sure Lily was good on the broom, he kicked off and headed in the direction of his favorite broom shop. He hated that it was so far away. He and his father always just apparated there, but he and Lily were still on school grounds, so he couldn’t apparate them. He’d keep that in mind for when they were leaving. He could apparate them into Hogsmeade and then they could walk back to the school.
After flying for at least a half hour, Scorpius started to descend into a spacious alley. Landing, He let Lily get off the broom, before waving his wand over it, and shrinking it to fit in his pocket. He glanced at Lily and smile. “Alright, ready to get your new broom?” he asked, walking forward. He walked to the end of the alley and turned right. He led her down another couple streets before stopping in front of a large building. On the outside, it was run-down and old looking with a dusted old sign that read ‘Snyder’s’. He pushed the door open and let her in. Inside was completely different. Perfect hardwood floors and walls lined with all the brooms you could possibly imagine. “There are tons to choose from. Have fun,” he winked.

we're venus and mars.--we're like different stars. There was no way that being on the back of a cute guy’s broom couldn’t be romantic. It wasn’t like it was cheesy, but it was sweet and slightly intimate. As for awkward, it was that too. At least she was starting to relax. Her arms had become less tense and just relaxed around the Slytherin’s middle. A realization hit her, causing her to chuckle at the irony in her following sentence. “I never thought that I would be riding on the back of a rival seeker’s broom,” she laughed. Whenever she saw him on the Quidditch pitch, things were much less friendly. They had fought over many golden snitches over the past few years. Nothing pleased her more than the times she had been victorious. This situation was the polar opposite.
The biting comment was one of those things that she wondered if she should have actually said. They had just started warming up to each other. Was it too soon for sexual remarks? It bothered her that she couldn’t see his reaction. He was quiet, something that made her get a little paranoid. That was one way to kill a conversation. The sudden rush of taking off distracted her. This was one of her favorite parts of playing. Her hair fluttered in the wind, thoroughly messing it up, but she failed to care. Everything about this small adventure was wonderful. She smiled contently as the landscape whizzed by. The day was growing even more beautiful.
It was a long journey, but Lily didn’t mind. Her head had ended up rested against Scorpius’ back about fifteen minutes into it. She had drifted off for a little while and didn’t open her eyes again until she felt the broom begin to descend. The city had come into view. A part of her wanted to stay up in the air with Scorpius, but of course she wasn’t going to say so out loud. Besides, she had a broom to get. Having her feet back on the ground felt slightly strange after being in the air so long. She stretched her legs and smiled at Scorp. “Nah, I think we should just fly back so I can use my old piece of junk broom,” she joked with a grin. The Gryffindor followed him through the alley and into the large broom store. Her eyes were huge as she looked around the building. “Oh. My. Merlin,” she gasped, barely keeping her jaw from dropping. It was like she had walked straight into heaven. “There’s hundreds!” she finally managed to say. One broom caught her eye and she practically ran to it. “A fireflash003…my brother has this one! I’ve been so jealous of it!” the redhead gushed. She was like a kid in a sweets shop. “And you’re sure that you actually want to buy me a broom?” lyrics; wouldn’t change a thing – demi lovato & joe jonas status; done! tag; scorpikins! word count; four seventy-four notes; gahhh…sorry, this sorta fails.

Scorpius was fully enjoying the entire ride with Lily on the bad of his broom. He never really imagined Potter’s only daughter sharing a broom ride with a Malfoy. But he didn’t care. He chuckled at her remark. “I never thought I’d have a rival seeker on the back of my broom. I may just have to disinfect it,” he teased. He never would. He wasn’t even going to wash his broom after today. The rain can rinse it, but he wasn’t going to scrub it clean. He liked the thought of Lily on the back of his broom, and her arms around his waist. He was a little surprised at these new found feelings for the Potter girl, but he was liking them, and was thinking about acting upon them. Maybe later.
He was glad that he took her to his favorite broom shop. If not, then the trip would’ve been too short and he wouldn’t have been able to enjoy her against his back. The feeling of her head against his shoulder put a smile on his face. He had dated a few girls, but none made him truly smile like Lily did. She was definitely something different. When they got off the broom he smirked and shook his head. “Fine, but good luck getting back to school with no ride,” he teased before walking to the road. When they went into the store, he couldn’t help but smile at her reaction.
She was definitely excited to be here. Bringing her to get a new broom was by far a good idea. His eyes stayed on her as the owner came over to him. “Hello Scorpius,” Mister Snyder said with a grin. Scorpius looked up at the older man and gave him nod. The man looked over at Lily when she ran to a broom. “A new friend?” he asked. “That would be the only daughter of Harry Potter,” Scorpius replied, laughing at Lily’s excitement over the broom. His eyebrow rose at the question. “Yes, Lily. I don’t mind. Pick whatever broom you want.”
“Hmm, befriending a Potter are we, Scorpius?” The man asked with a small grin. “What if I am?” Scorpius retorted. “Either way…I don’t believe father would really need to know any of this. Got it?” He looked up at the owner with cocked eyebrow. The man knew not to mess with any of the Malfoys. They gave him a lot of business. The man nodded and continued on his way, and Scorpius turned his attention back to the red-head looking at all the brooms around her.

we're venus and mars.--we're like different stars. This was a great start to the year. She hadn’t seen it coming, but now she was really thinking that Scorpius Malfoy had great friend potential. Maybe even more than just friend potential. She smirked. “Yeah, I’d do the same if I were you,” she laughed, tightening her arms around him briefly in a teasing squeeze. This was all so new and exciting. She was on the back of a cute, older guy’s broom…and there was a good chance that she and this older guy were flirting. The Gryffindor was even bothering with trying to control herself. She wanted to act like her goofy self around the boy. If that resulted in her acting like a flirt, so be it. Lily was happy and excited and enjoying every moment of this.
In all honesty, the girl wouldn’t have minded circling the town on the broom a few times. Not only was flying one of her favorite things, but she had been enjoying this. This was just so comfortable and felt right. It was almost disappointing to feel her feet touch the ground. Still, she grinned at the slight threat. “Oh please, I could get back. All I’d have to do was bat my eyelashes at some hot guy with a broom and he’d bring me straight back to Hogwarts,” she smugly retorted. There was no way in hell she was going back with anyone other than Scorp. She was already looking forward to the ride back. Not that she wasn’t thrilled about this; after all, she was getting a new broom. Any Quidditch player would consider this a dream. Lily walked alongside the Malfoy boy with an unwavering natural smile. This was awesome.
Growing up, she had always been part of a well-off family. Her parents had plenty of money and they lived comfortably, but Lily had always been kept grounded. Once in a while, her mother had taken her out shopping for sweets and pretty clothes, but the Potters had made sure to never spoil their daughter. That’s why she was so awestruck. Scorpius had told her to pick out a broom…it wasn’t like with her father, who had always been mindful of the price and occasion. Her hazel eyes were huge, looking around and wondering if this was all just some fantastic dream. She caressed the fireflash003’s wooden handle. It was so perfect and even glossier than her brother’s. Glancing at Scorpius, she noticed him talking to an older man. The only part of their conversation she caught was ‘befriending a Potter’. A small smirk flashed across her lips and then she returned her interest to the broom.
Though she did a little bit of looking around, her heart was pretty set on the fireflash. She lifted it carefully and walked over to the Slytherin. “Well, what do you think?” she asked with a beaming smile. It already felt perfect. With this, she would definitely be on her A-game. Of course, no one could know where it came from. There would be no positive reactions. She would have to fabricate some story about how her father had found out right away about her busted broom and rushed to send her a new one. When her parents asked about it, she would claim it had been a thoughtful gift from a friend. That wasn’t a lie. She just wouldn’t specify which friend had given her. Scorpius smiled. He knew she would. There was a lot of people that probably would. But he no longer cared about who was on his broom. Lily was already on it. He wasn’t ever going to clean it. When she spoke again, he laughed. “Yeah, you could do that, but you never know who’s helping you. A cute girl all alone in the middle of the street trying to get back to school. Someone might snatch you up and take you away,” he said, with a small smirk. “And we wouldn’t want that.” He’d probably kill the person, if that situation actually happened. He’d hunt them down and shoot the killing curse at him not even worrying about the consequences.
He kept his eyes on Lily as she continued looking at all the brooms. He was done talking with the owner. He didn’t need the drama with that man. He’d just pay a little extra for the broom to keep his mouth shut. The man wasn’t greedy, but Scorpius always liked taking a step ahead. When he was ready to tell his dad, he’d tell him. Draco Malfoy wasn’t about to find out about his new friendship from a third party. Hands in his pockets, he looked at some of the brooms near him. He had tried all of the ones that were there, and they weren’t the best. He stuck with his Firebolt. He had every model, including the ones made when his father was in school. They were his favorite model of broom.
He glanced back over to her as she walked over to him with the broom. “I think it looks good,” he said with a smile. He knew she knew that no one could find out about his purchase for her. Well…no one could know that he was the one that bought it for her. He took the broom from her and walked over to the register. Setting it down, he looked at her, “You’re sure this is the one you want,” he teased as Mr. Snyder came over to cash them out. Pressing a couple of buttons on the machine, he looked at Scorpius. “Alright, that’ll be seven hundred and fifty galleons, Mister Malfoy.”
Scorpius nodded and dug in his pocket. He pulled two coin bags from his pocket and tossed it onto the counter. “There should be plenty there, Snyder. And keep whatever’s left.” Snyder nodded and Scorpius took the broom, handing it to Lily. “Ready to try it out?” He grinned. Now that she had her broom, he was a little bummed that she wouldn’t be riding on the back of his back to the school, but he knew she was happy with it and he was happy. He walked over to the door and opened it for her to go outside before leaving the store himself.
