So I don't want to be one of the boys, One of your guys. Just give me a chance, To prove to you tonight. Nikki wasn’t one of the girl’s guys usually asked for things; like dates, or anything of that sort. But, she was the type of person people usually asked for help. Generally, in her father’s class. Before this year, she had kept her hair long, hidden behind her bangs and glasses. This year? Her mother had corrected her vision, clipped her hair, changed her wardrobe, and wouldn’t let her keep the pants she had always worn to class. She had to wear skirts now, and her mother had insisted she’d be happy this happened. Nikki wasn’t, but she guessed there really wasn’t much she could do. She complained to her father, but he didn’t really know what to tell her, but he did prefer the pants, it kept people’s eyes to themselves. She stuck out now, but she got used to getting to looking at herself, and some days she even wore a little make up.
So today? She was in class, her hair out of her face. She wore the skirt she was given by her mother, and she had taken her jacket off. It was still warm around, but she didn’t really like to be without it, but she didn’t want to get dirt all over it either. Well, soil, it wasn’t just dirt. She was in the greenhouse, helping repot things before her class. She always did. She didn’t really ever pay attention to the other students who were in this class, she could do what was asked of her with her eyes closed, though, today? Her father was giving them time to just work on whatever they had been doing last class. She finished already, she really wasn’t sure what they had been doing. She was off in her own world, repotting the dangerous flowers her father was letting the older kids observe.
The other students were mingling, not really doing anything. Her father had lax days like this sometimes, with her class a lot. They were slow, apparently. She snorted at the idea of other kids being stuck behind where she was. She could be stuck up like that sometimes, but she was rather ostracized from the social circles around her, so that rather made sense. As she started to redo the plants, she hummed, bouncing on the balls of her feet. She looked up, and she glanced around, catching someone’s eye. She didn’t mean to, it was a boy. A Slytherin, Jacov something. He was a Prefect and all, she just didn’t want to be looked at. She smiled lightly, and dropped her gaze quickly. She didn’t need attention, and she didn’t want him to think she was staring. She wasn’t. She couldn’t, I mean, look at her. She was a Longbottom, and a badger. It was just one of those things.

SOFT KISS AND WINE WHAT A PRETTY FRIEND OF MINE ( we're finally intertwined )
Jacov was in the greenhouse for Herbology. He hated this class, but he needed to take it. He didn’t mind it all the time, he just usually got lost during the lesson. He was never this interested in the plants they were forced to learn about or repot. Sure, he knew that knowing about them would help even more in potions, but he still didn’t care. So that’s why he was glad that Professor Longbottom had given them a lazy day in class. He wasn’t in the mood to learn and did have a few things to catch up on, including finishing a paper for this particular professor. He ignored the other students around him that weren’t actually doing anything and tossed his book onto an empty table. He wanted to get it done before this class ended, so he didn’t have to worry about it later and he could just pass it in early.
He didn’t get very far into it before he was raking his fingers through his already messy hair from annoyance. He hated writing papers, but he hated writing paper for classes he didn’t like more. Most of the time he just found someone to finish it for him. He could start them…he just couldn’t finish them. He either got distracted, bored, or just completely lost interest. He leaned back in his chair a bit so he was on the back legs, and looked around the greenhouse to see what the other were doing. A lot of them weren’t really doing much, and some were doing work. One person caught his eye though. Violetta Longbottom. She looked different this year and he liked it. He had known her for a what, but he didn’t really see her in any other way, but just as another student and being the professor’s daughter. Nothing more. But this year…it was different.
Her hair was shorter than he remembered, and she was in skirts now instead of pants. Of course, he didn’t mind the skirts at all, and the short hair was much cuter. He watched as she started to redo the pants and bounced on the balls of her feet. He never really paid much attention to her, what her being a Hufflepuff and all. He never really care about the blood and house crap most of the Slytherins did, but he just usually went about his business, not really caring about anyone else. When she turned, he didn’t move fast enough and caught her eye when she looked over at him. He couldn’t stop the smile that formed on his lips when she smiled at him before her gaze fell. He ran his fingers through his hair again, fixing it the best he could, before standing up. He made his way over to her and leaned against the table next to her. “Hi,” he said with a small smile. “Nikki, right?” He just wanted to double check. He didn’t like looking stupid.

So I don't want to be one of the boys, One of your guys. Just give me a chance, To prove to you tonight. She didn’t really know what to do around boys. She just wasn’t that girl, she didn’t know how to flirt! She knew how to repot mandrake roots, and tell you what you could and couldn’t eat in the woods, or mix with certain things. She wasn’t a talker, or a looker even really. She had a decent figure, but that was it. She really just didn’t know how to handle herself in front of people, let alone people…with…other body parts! She swallowed at the thought, and she tried to keep her eyes on the ground, doing something with her hands. She just had to figure something out, maybe she could go live in the woods where men didn’t live.
She looked as he smiled at her, and she felt her face light up, reddish tint. She looked down, and she kept her face on her work. She didn’t mean to stare, she didn’t know why she had looked up, but she had and now she couldn’t undo it. She looked as she saw someone move closer to her. Oh no, what’d she do? Was someone coming to hit her or laugh at her or something? She swallowed, and she looked farther into her book. Then, there was a voice. She jumped, and she looked up, and she didn’t know what to look at when she looked up, so she looked lightly into his face, then past his shoulder really. ”I…uh, yeah. Nikki.” She said, swallowing nervously. ”You’re Jacov Warrington I think?” She knew who he was, but she didn’t want to be creepy.
She swallowed and she looked up again. She had to say something, he bothered to come all the way over here, and stuff. ”I didn’t mean to stare, it’s a bad habit.” She said with a small smile. She pushed her hair behind her ear, and she looked down again, she took her hands out of the dirt of the flowers she’d be working with, and she shook them clean. She added some of the water…sort of potion thing her father made, looked at the flower in the sun, and she pushed it farther back on the table. She looked back up at him, ”I’m sorry, I’m being rude, I can’t really do more then one thing at a time. You’re not a thing, I mean talking. I can’t talk and pot things.” She said with a smile, an awkward smile, grabbing a towel to clean the rest of her hands off as best she could.

SOFT KISS AND WINE WHAT A PRETTY FRIEND OF MINE ( we're finally intertwined )
Jacov just stood there and watched her curiously. He had seen other students concentrate on their work, but he knew there were some that obviously had their favorite classes and this one was apparently hers. Her father was the professor, but he had a feeling that even if he didn’t work here, she would still favorite this odd class. He couldn’t exactly say much, though. As much has he disliked this class, he still enjoyed learning about everything. He was a secret nerd. Alone he was really smart and knew what the teachers and work asked, but when he was around people, he was incompetent and lazy and he liked it that way.
As he waited for her to speak, he smiled slightly when he saw her face redden. He usually had that affect on girls, not just the shy ones (which something that obviously Nikki was). He didn’t mind it, he was pretty good at getting the shy ones to come out of their shells and be less shy. Even if it was only when they were with him. He liked being able to have a girl’s attention that no other guy could get. It was like a hobby for him. He brushed some hair out of his face as she confirmed her name for him. He liked being sure of things like that. If it was one thing girls hated, it was not knowing their name, or calling them something else. He had one too many mishaps with that. He learned his lesson. He nodded at her question of his name. He didn’t want to seem full of himself, but he knew everyone knew who he was. He was a prefect, but he wasn’t about to say that out loud.
He watched as she brushed her hair back, then back to her face as she spoke. He smiled and waved off her words. “Don’t even worry about it. I was staring back, so you’re off the hook for it,” he joked. He watched her again as she cleaned off her hands and pushed the plant back. He didn’t mean to interrupt her work. He gave her a small frown. “Oh, well I didn’t mean to interrupt whatever it was you were doing.” He looked back at the plant she was working on. “So what were you doing?” he asked, genuinely interested. Hell maybe he’d find something even more interesting to talk about. As long as he got to talk to her, he was happy.

So I don't want to be one of the boys, One of your guys. Just give me a chance, To prove to you tonight. Learning was something she’d done from the day she could get out of her Father’s grasp. She’d been learning what she could do things with since before Hogwarts, in this class, she was light years ahead of her peers. The work she was doing right this second was for Newt level students. She hadn’t even taken her OWLs yet. She was just that kind of person. Growing up where she did, she just had to find things to do. Hogsmeade wasn’t that exciting, and she just occupied her time as a kid learning. Her father was never far away though, that was the very comforting part of it all. She hadn’t always lived in Hogsmeade, but had moved there when she was fairly young, when her grandparents died, and passed the Pub onto her mother, so she just had to learn to get by, she couldn’t stand being around her mother sometimes, and studies were an escape.
But now, there was a boy over here, and he was watching her, and had apparently been staring back. That in itself was something she would never understand. ”I…is there something on me? I don’t know why else anyone would be staring…” She mumbled to herself, looking down herself, at her skirt, tights, and everything else she wore. She didn’t see anything and she looked back up, her head slightly cocked to the side. She shrugged, looking back at the plants, ”It’s not really something I’m supposed to be doing, it’s just something Daddy’s NEWT students were too stupid to finish yesterday.” She said offhandedly, like it was something a normal person would say to anyone else. He wanted to know what she was doing? That was a first, she wasn’t sure whether he actually cared, or if he was just asking to have something to laugh at her about, but giving him the benefit of the doubt, she looked back at the plants, and she spoke, pointing to the things she’d just replanted, which started moving slightly, ”They’re fanged geraniums. I should be wearing gloves to do this, but getting bitten by a plant is the least of my worries most days.” She said with a slightly wary smile.
She pulled one back closer to them, seeing if he actually cared, or if he was just looking for something to laugh at her about. If he cared, he might actually want to touch them, and if he didn’t, he’d just laugh and push the plant over or something. Maybe push her, depending on how he was really. ”You can touch them if you want, or help if you were bored with the other stuff to be done in here, I have a few more left to replant. I can get you gloves if you’re scared of being bitten. Far as I know it just hurts physically, I haven’t lost fingers of anything from them yet..” She trailed off, looking up at him with the wriggling plant sitting in front of her, looking up at him with a smile.

SOFT KISS AND WINE WHAT A PRETTY FRIEND OF MINE ( we're finally intertwined )
Jacov couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle at her question. He smiled and shook his head. “No, there’s nothing on you,” he replied. “You just…caught my eye.” And it was true. He felt a little bad for never really noticing her like this before. Sure, he had noticed her, but still…it was different now. After he asked what she was doing, he looked back to the plant when she spoke about it. He smirked. “You really are a plant nerd, huh?” he teased.
He was always impressed at how far ahead she always was when they were in class together. When she spoke again, he looked at the moving plants and then back to her. “Couldn’t that get…dangerous?” he asked. “What if it was poisonous?” He looked down at the plant warily. He always made sure that he was wearing his gloves. They always had some weird ass plants in that greenhouse and he wasn’t about to die or lose a finger.
He watched as she pulled the plant that she was working on back to her. Plants always freaked him out. He looked back at her as she spoke again. His eyebrow rose at her. Touch it? He was definitely hesitant about it. He looked at her skeptically for a moment before lifting his hand and poking the plant. “Help replant them?” He thought for a moment and then shrugged. “Sure, I’ll help.” He smiled at her. He was happy to help her out with it. He was definitely going to do it with gloves though. He wasn’t as ballsy as her. He didn’t want to get bit by a plant. He’d probably tear it to pieces.

So I don't want to be one of the boys, One of your guys. Just give me a chance, To prove to you tonight. She pursed her lips lightly, smiling, but still wondering what it was about her that could actually get someone's attention. She spoke again, "Did you forget to wear some sort of corrective lenses today?" She said with a joking tone. She didn't know what made people attractive to other people, but apparently she looked different enough to sort of get someone's attention. It should have been normal to her, apparently it happened to everyone. Her mother had been awkward as a kid, and her father too for that matter, she'd seen pictures, he was an awkward child, but he was a strong, attractive man now, which implied they all had to get better looking eventually, right? She looked at him as he spoke again, and she laughed before she could stop herself, "It runs in the family." She motioned for the direction of her father's office.
She giggled again, he seemed worried about it, she ran her finger down the leaves of the plant, slowly enough to not upset the wriggling plant. "I've read enough to know what can hurt me and what can't. I've been raising dangerous plants since I can remember, and nondangerous ones too. Plants in generally I guess, or as many as I could growing up in Hogsmeade, don't have a lot of green space there, but I know enough." She said, looking down at the plant. "As long as you know what you're doing, plants shouldn't be something to be scared of, unless they're in the wrong person's hands, then they can get scary; or if you're dumb and just start eating things in here, like those little things over in the window next to the door? It's call Alihotsy, and if you eat the leaves, it causes insanity." She said with a knowing smile. "Daddy generally doesn't leave it just sitting out, but that particular plant isn't doing well, and I'm determined to save it, so it's actually mine." She explained, not knowing if he cared or not, but she was talking about it anyhow. She cared, so she'd talk about it.
She smiled as he poked the plant. "It's bite doesn't hurt all that much." She assured him. "They just need more room to grow, so we're just moving them from these to bigger pots." Nothing too hard, there were just a few of them anyhow, most of the NEWT students had already done the work; albeit wrong so she had to redo a lot of it, but she didn't mind. Once she got the other plant she needed to work on healthy again, she was going to take one of these back to the basement with her and put it on her trunk, she decided. Might teach her roommates to leave her stuff alone. "So, we basically sorta do this like with mandrakes, it's just less loud. You get them out by the bottom though, so we have dig them up a bit, but if you have your hands in the right place they can't really bite you." She explained, moving some of the dirt aside with the plant starting to wriggle a bit more, "The annoying part is when they do this though, stop wiggling!" She told the plant, like it could actually hear her. "They don't speak English though sadly, so you just have to let them wiggle, they'll stop eventually." The movement was rather limited, but it was enough to make them a pain to hold onto.
